Three Wednesdays, eight episodes. That is how Prime Video will deliver Season 3 of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power: four episodes on Nov. 11, two more on Nov. 18 and the last two on Nov. 25, Amazon says. The finale lands the same day Prime Video launches its sci-fi series Blade Runner 2099.
The story does not pick up where Season 2 left off. Season 3 jumps several years ahead to the height of the war between the Elves and Sauron, who is working to forge the One Ring. Charlie Vickers returns as Sauron, and Prime Video lists Jamie Campbell Bower as Celeborn and Zubin Varla as Khamûl among the new faces.
Fans have waited since Season 2 ended on Oct. 3, 2024, more than two years. The show has plenty to live up to. Prime Video says Season 1 remains its biggest TV premiere over a 91-day window, and Season 2 ranks among the five most-watched returning seasons it has had. Reports say five seasons are planned, which would put this one near the halfway mark.
Catch up first: all 16 episodes of Seasons 1 and 2 are streaming on Prime Video now.
The fall is stacking up with comebacks. Netflix just brought back Omar Sy’s Lupin after nearly three years away.
