LOS ANGELES — The Milwaukee Brewers are going to the World Series. They finished a four-game sweep of the Los Angeles Dodgers in the National League Championship Series on Thursday night with a 6-4 win at Dodger Stadium.

It is Milwaukee’s first trip to the World Series since 1982. The Brewers have never won a championship.

A comeback from 4-0 down

The Dodgers jumped out early. Shohei Ohtani hit a three-run homer in the second inning, and Los Angeles led 4-0 after two innings.

Milwaukee answered by scoring in four different innings. Mitchell hit a home run, Hamilton had two hits including a homer and drove in two runs, and Bauers drove in three runs. The Brewers had only five hits, but they made them count.

JoJo Romero got the win after two innings of relief. Aaron Ashby pitched the last three innings without allowing a run and earned the save. Dodgers starter Tyler Glasnow lasted 4⅓ innings, gave up four runs and struck out six.

A sweep over the two-time defending champions

The Dodgers won the last two World Series and were trying to reach a third straight. Last October, the Dodgers swept the Brewers in the NLCS. This year Milwaukee returned the favor.

The Brewers finished the regular season 103-59. They won Game 3 on Wednesday 6-2 before closing out the series Thursday.

Who they will play

Milwaukee will face the winner of the American League Championship Series between the Cleveland Guardians and the Tampa Bay Rays. Cleveland leads that series 2-1. Game 1 of the World Series is scheduled for Friday, Oct. 23, in Milwaukee.
